Model Home Exterior

The exterior of the Jim Barna Log and Timber Home model home is shown in the pictures below.

The log type used on our model home is a 12-inch square log with dove-tailed corners. The exterior of the log is hand hewn. The exterior is finished with a Sikkens Natural Light color with the trim finished with a Sikkens Hunter Green and Burgundy color scheme.

The home features covered porches on the front, rear and left side with the front covered porch flowing to an open deck on the front of the home. Windows have been used liberally throughout the design with transom windows on much of the first floor. To support the window height we increased the ceiling heights throughout the home to over 10 feet in most rooms.

Interior

The interior of the home supports three bedrooms and 2 ½ bathes on the top two floors with the business office, full bath, garage and workshop in the basement. We installed central heat and air in the home with a fireplace and wood-burning stove supporting the heating load in the winter. The interior walls are finished with a combination of log, log siding, T&G, bead board and drywall. The sculpted trim work around doors, windows and beams is extensive and is a premium feature of the home. The floors are primarily finished with 4-inch red oak through out the home with multiple tile styles used in the bathes and laundry room. The interior paint and stain finishes consist of Sikkens Opal White throughout most of the house with some of the rooms supporting water-based Min-wax moss green finish. Looking closely you will also see a mix of Behr Coffee white on the dry wall and bead board as the finish coat.

Cabinets throughout the house are a mixture of painted and stained finishes with maple and cherry woods used on all cabinets. All counter tops are granite.

The fireplace is finished with a faux rock finish in grey and brown tones to blend in with the wall and trim features of the home.

Business Office

Our business office is in the lower level of our model. The office has shelves to the left and right of the windows and wood-burning stove. The wall behind the wood-burning stove supports a similar faux rock as shown on the Living Room Fireplace.

Many of the features in our Model home are premium features that most log homebuilders do not implement.
